Now we see the people's response to Samuel's warning.
Samuel has shown them that the negatives far outweigh the positives when it comes to having a king. The problem is that the Israelites don't care. They demanded a king even though God told them, on no uncertain terms, that it would cause a colossal mess. This must have been so frustrating to Samuel since it was his responsibility to find the new king.
I really focused on expressions on this page. The angry crowd is full of aggravated and stern faces, defensive postures, and downcast gestures. Samuel is standing alone, facing the brunt of all their frustrations. Nothing he can say will change their minds, they are set in their ways.
